The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a knowledge-based introduction to teaching and/or training which has no teaching/training practice requirement. Therefore it may be undertaken by candidates who are not in a teaching role.
Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners. They will be able to sequence learning, plan and deliver sessions, using appropriate resources and teaching methods. They will also be able to identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback.
The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is a first stage teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an ‘in service’ qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers. It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers to also complete this qualification.
All learners whether pre-service or in- service must have access to 30 hours of teaching practice and a minimum of three teaching/training practice observations, which must reach the required Ofsted standard of practice. This qualification is also suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment.
This qualification is designed to be taken by a learner who is already in work or with qualifications or experience in a vocational subject who wish to teach or ; seeking to enter work, change career
or move into a teaching or training role.
This Level 5 Certificate in Education and Training is the only Level 5 work - based qualification suitable for those wishing to teach in the learning and skills sector This qualification can help individuals gain employment as Teachers or Trainers.
This qualification is for those working in a wide range of education and learning settings. It is designed for full or part time workers, paid and voluntary, permanent or temporary, as well as day or night workers. This qualification can help individuals to progress into roles with additional management responsibilities , such as a Senior Teacher, Programme Manager or Head of Department Additionally, with further training you could gain employment in specialist roles including teaching literacy, ESOL, numeracy and disabled learners
